Can I use Gemma commercially, in AI training or with modifications?
Use, reproduce, modify, distribute and deploy Gemma and model derivatives, including commercially, subject to the Gemma Prohibited Use Policy, which you must pass on to anyone you distribute to.
| Use | Answer | Why |
|---|---|---|
| commercial_use | Yes | Permitted, with duties: license_notice, use_restrictions, pass_on_restrictions, state_changes. |
| model_training | Needs human review | Models trained on Gemma, its parameters or its outputs to perform similarly (such as by distillation) count as model derivatives and carry the same terms and use restrictions. A reviewer should confirm how this applies to your model. |
| modification | Yes | Permitted, with duties: license_notice, use_restrictions, pass_on_restrictions, state_changes. |
