Operator powers
Last updated
TL;DR: This page lists every remaining operator-only power on a2ally and the constraint on it, generated from the live admin routes. Every use of an operator power is logged on the public ledger.
Honest status
Admin-less is not true yet: the operator still holds these powers. What is true: every use is on the public ledger, rule changes are time-locked, and the list is generated from the code.
Every operator-only path (78, generated from the route table)
- GET /v1/admin/errors — Read-only grouped error fingerprints (no customer data). Use recorded as operator.action.
- GET /v1/admin/newsletter/status — Read-only view for the operator. Its use is recorded publicly on the ledger as operator.action.
- GET /v1/admin/operations/agreements — Read-only view for the operator. Its use is recorded publicly on the ledger as operator.action.
- POST /v1/admin/operations/agreements — Drafts a private operations agreement for a live workspace. Nothing is offered or invoiced until it is offered and the workspace's designated paying owner accepts its exact terms. Recorded as operator.action.
- POST /v1/admin/operations/agreements/run — Runs the agreement billing cycle early: offer expiry, renewal and usage invoices, holds and endings. Every step is idempotent. Recorded as operator.action.
- GET /v1/admin/operations/agreements/(opagr_[a-f0-9]{24}) — Read-only view for the operator. Its use is recorded publicly on the ledger as operator.action.
- POST /v1/admin/operations/agreements/(opagr_[a-f0-9]{24})/update — Edits a draft agreement that has not been offered. Recorded as operator.action.
- POST /v1/admin/operations/agreements/(opagr_[a-f0-9]{24})/offer — Offers a drafted agreement. Its terms are frozen and hashed at that moment and cannot be changed afterwards. Recorded as operator.action.
- POST /v1/admin/operations/agreements/(opagr_[a-f0-9]{24})/withdraw — Withdraws a draft or an open offer. Recorded as operator.action.
- POST /v1/admin/operations/agreements/(opagr_[a-f0-9]{24})/terminate — Ends an accepted agreement now or at the end of its current period; it can never extend one. Periods that will not run are never invoiced, and the workspace keeps its records and exports. Recorded as operator.action.
- POST /v1/admin/operations/agreements/(opagr_[a-f0-9]{24})/delivery — Records delivery effort against an agreement, for cost accounting. Recorded as operator.action.
- POST /v1/admin/operations/invoices/(opinv_[a-f0-9]{24})/payments — Records a received bank transfer against an invoice. Card payments are recorded only from the payment provider's signed notifications. Recorded as operator.action.
- POST /v1/admin/operations/invoices/(opinv_[a-f0-9]{24})/adjustments — Records a refund or chargeback on a recorded transfer; a recorded payment is never altered. Recorded as operator.action.

- POST /v1/admin/operations/invoices/(opinv_[a-f0-9]{24})/void — Voids an unpaid invoice with a stated reason. A paid invoice cannot be voided. Recorded as operator.action.

- POST /v1/admin/activation/internal-accounts — Marks or unmarks an account as internal so it is never counted as customer adoption. It changes no account, record or permission. Recorded as operator.action.
- GET /v1/admin/census — Read-only account census: classifies every account (sandbox, canary, journey test, first party, founder business, likely test, external) with stated rules; shows email domains and pseudonymous network labels, never full addresses. Recorded as operator.action.
- POST /v1/admin/census/mark-internal — Marks every account in chosen census classes as internal so it never counts as customer adoption. It changes no account, record or permission. Recorded as operator.action.
- POST /v1/admin/read-keys — Mints a read-only operator key (1 hour to 30 days) that can only GET admin and analytics views and can be revoked at once. It is shown once and stored hashed; every use is recorded as operator.action with the credential named.

Powers outside the API
- Deploy new code: Every boot seals transparency.deploy (commit + build hash) onto the ledger and lists it at /transparency. A build that changes a rulebook without an announced change past its 7-day waiting period refuses to start in production.
- Change grading, pricing, arbitration or neutrality rules: Announced in RULE_CHANGES at least 7 days before effect, sealed as rules.change_sealed, enforced in CI and at boot.
- Rotate or revoke the issuer signing key: Written as issuer.key_rotated / issuer.key_revoked on the ledger; old keys stay published so past records still verify.
- Refuse or delay recording an event: NOT prevented today. We are the only operator that accepts writes. Mitigation: parties can keep their own signed receipts and cosigning witnesses watch the checkpoint log for gaps.
- Run a modified server that differs from the published code: NOT prevented today. There is no hardware enclave attestation yet; the build hash is self-reported.

Frequently asked questions
Can a2ally's operator change records?
Ledger entries are append-only and hash-chained, and database triggers block edits, so a silent rewrite would break the chain and the Bitcoin anchors. Remaining operator powers are listed on this page with their limits.
Is a2ally operatorless?
No. One operator still accepts writes and can refuse or delay recording an event; this page states that plainly along with the mitigations.
